With former Leicester Tigers lock Malcolm Foulkes-Arnold among our number, we are committed to using rugby as a means of “powering” projects in our community and have raised more than £300,000 to help the lives of local children and young people.
Sell-out events and a variety of fundraising feats have allowed us to provide significant grants to worthwhile causes such as Birkett House School in Leicester. Our £90,000 donation was used to fund a sensory play suite and garden for pupils at the school, which caters for four- to 19-year-olds with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities.
Wooden Spoon Leicestershire has funded a wide range of projects from soft play areas to sensory and therapy rooms. Click Region projects for Leicestershire to see the full listing.
Wooden Spoon Leicestershire kindly donated £10,500 towards the costs of refurbishing a soft play area at Oaklands School. The school in Leicester caters for 102 pupils ages 4-11 with moderate and severe learning difficulties. The soft play area if a favourite for most pupils.
