FANTASTIC NEW SOFT PLAY ROOM AT RAINBOW HOSPICE, THANKS TO WOODEN SPOON LEICESTER

Leicestershire (Midlands)

Wooden Spoon raised funds to equip a wonderful new soft play room in the therapy wing at Rainbows hospice for children and young people. At the hospice they care for babies, children and young people up to the age of thirty.

Rainbow is the only hospice in the East Midlands for life-limited, young people and their families.  The work they do is to ensure a brighter life, with amazing care and support for the children, and this new soft play room has created more opportunity for that.

They’ve been open since 1994, and have cared for over 350 families every year and offer bereavement support to over twice that amount. The children they help have fun and get to really enjoy life through their specialist multi-sensory facilities, adapted accommodation, hydrotherapy and music they provide.

Dana Simons, Appeal Manager at Rainbow has said ”This room and the equipment that was funded by Wooden Spoon has provided hours of enjoyment to the children and young people at Rainbows and we are extremely grateful for their very generous donation”.

The previous soft play area Rainbow hospice had was a lot smaller,  the new one that Wooden Spoon have funded, allows really easy access for wheelchair users, a much larger area for families or groups to play together in, as well as being safe and enjoyable.

Christina Smith, a member of our Play team says: “There is a lot of play value in the Soft Play Room. There is a mini den and steps to a higher level with more interactive toys. It is a good place to let off steam and is very much enjoyed by siblings too! It can also be a lovely place for families to play together!”

We look forward to hearing more about how the new soft play room is making a difference to the children and young people at Rainbow Hospice.
