Playgrounds and Outdoor Activities

Wooden Spoon have funded over 70 playgrounds and outdoor activity projects across the UK and Ireland. The projects aim to improve facilities which limit learning and outdoor activities, and allow children to develop their skills.

Multi Use Games Area

In 2019, Wooden Spoon opened a Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) at West Road Primary School. The project supported around 385 pupils aged 3-11 years old, the “boggy” sports field was inaccessible in bad weather.

The MUGA means that now basketball, cricket, football, netball and tennis are available to play all year round and make activities more enjoyable for pupils and visitors.

Playground and Outdoor Areas

We have funded a range of different playgrounds for children and young people with disabilities or facing disadvantage across the UK and Ireland. Kobi Nazrul School in London was gifted a donation from Wooden Spoon to build a completely new playground for the pupils.

37% of children living in the UK are living in poverty, the new space we provided for the children meant that they could have a safe environment to play outside.

Kobi Nazrul is in a deprived area of London, therefore the addition of a vegetable patch and a double decker bus, turned into a kitchen, allows the school to provide meals for the pupils with the food they grow themselves.
