Ollie Devoto Shines at Devon Wooden Spoon Golf Day

Exeter Chiefs and England international Ollie Devoto displayed stellar form at the annual Devon Wooden Spoon Golf Day, held at Yelverton Golf Club. Devoto’s remarkable performance, which included a personal tally of 40 points, propelled his team to victory. Alongside teammates Mark Stevens, Jack Innard, and Gareth Steenson, Devoto helped secure the top spot with a combined team score of 90 points.

The competition was fierce, with Kitty O’Hanlons and Stratton Creber Commercial both finishing just two points behind the winners. Thompson Jenner, meanwhile, took home the Wooden Spoon with a total score of 68 points.

The event saw participation from 22 teams, collectively raising £2,300 for the charity. Additional prize winners included Robin Edbrooke for the longest drive and Chris Taunton for nearest to the pin on Hole 12.

“It was another fantastic day for the charity,” said Kevin Norris, organiser and Devon Wooden Spoon committee member. “To raise over £2,000 was incredible, and I’m extremely thankful to those who once again supported our golf day.

“Together, we are making a real difference in the lives of young people in Devon. Their generosity and enthusiasm are truly inspiring.”

The success of the day not only highlighted the skill and sportsmanship of the participants but also underscored the community’s commitment to supporting charitable causes.
