All Change in Oxfordshire Region

We are excited to announce a significant leadership update within the Oxfordshire region of Wooden Spoon. Following a recent committee meeting, Steve ‘Murph’ Murphy has been appointed as the new Chair of the Oxfordshire region, effective from 01 July 2024.

Murph steps into the role following the tenure of former Chair Will Deeley, who has been an exceptional leader and a valued member of the Wooden Spoon family for several years. Will’s dedication and contributions have been invaluable, and we are delighted that he will continue to support the charity alongside Bex Fletcher, both of whom remain active committee members and key figures in our fundraising efforts.

Reflecting on his appointment, Murph shared, “I’m really excited and honoured to take up the role of Chair for the Oxfordshire region; to continue the great work done by Will Deeley and his Uncle John beforehand. Thanks to Will & Bex for their efforts on behalf of Oxfordshire Wooden Spoon thus far and we hope to continue the good work together along with new colleagues and share ideas to have an impact on the region and local children.”

Murph brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having been actively involved in numerous Wooden Spoon events. Notably, he served as Team Manager during last year’s 40th Anniversary Celebrations at Rugby School and this year’s Tag Fest 24. His hands-on approach and passion for the cause make him a perfect fit for this leadership position.

We extend our best wishes to Murph as he embarks on this new journey and look forward to the exciting initiatives and positive impact that the Oxfordshire region will undoubtedly achieve under his guidance in the coming months.

Stay tuned for more updates and join us in supporting Murph and the entire Oxfordshire team as they continue to champion the Wooden Spoon mission, bringing help to local children in need.
