NEW SENSORY ROOM FOR PUPILS IN NORTH YORKSHIRE
YorkshireOn Tuesday 7th December, members of the Wooden Spoon Yorkshire committee visited Riccall Community Primary School to officially open their sensory room.
Wooden Spoon Yorkshire provided a grant of £7,897.00 towards the Sensory Space for Riccall Community Primary School in North Yorkshire. A modest project, but the school have transformed the space to offer pupils a calming environment and an area for children with Special Educational Needs or disabilities to access sensory experiences.
To officially open the project, Neil Spilman, a well known local East Riding artist, joined the committee and also assisted the pupils in putting the finishing touches to the room through painting a blanked off door in soothing colours.
Headteacher Nick said of the project ‘We are so grateful to Wooden Spoon for helping to make this project happen. The sensory room will provide vital support for our children with Special Educational Needs and their families. The support and funding from Wooden Spoon will make such a difference to our community.’
Please make a donation this Christmas to help us fund more projects like this to support vulnerable children and young people.
