Wooden Spoon Worcestershire Raises £2,000 at Annual Wine Tasting Evening
Wooden Spoon Worcestershire welcomed supporters, members and local businesses to its annual wine tasting evening, raising approximately £2,000 to help fund projects supporting children and young people across the region.
This year’s event, held on 2 July, featured a fun new theme, American Day of Wine Dependence, giving guests the opportunity to take part in a friendly blind wine tasting challenge. The evening saw a selection of UK wines go head-to-head with wines from the United States, with participants invited to identify each wine, score their favourites and put their tasting skills to the test. A couple of lager ‘chasers’ also kept the competition light-hearted and entertaining.
After an evening of tasting and scoring, the overall winner was a Wooden Spoon member who is currently in the process of opening his own vineyard in Worcestershire – making the victory all the more fitting.
The event was generously sponsored by Sinclair Day Accountants, a Worcester-based firm that has supported Wooden Spoon Worcestershire for many years. The evening was hosted at Bottles Wine Bar in Worcester, providing the perfect setting for supporters to come together, enjoy great company and raise vital funds for the charity.
As well as raising an impressive £2,000, the event also welcomed three new members to the Wooden Spoon family, helping to strengthen the region’s growing network of supporters who are committed to creating opportunities for children and young people.
Looking ahead, the region’s next major fundraising event will be its Christmas Curry Lunch, taking place on Friday 27 November. The team looks forward to welcoming supporters old and new for another fantastic day of fundraising, networking and community spirit, all in support of Wooden Spoon’s mission to give every child the opportunity to thrive.
