Honouring Graham Siswick: Harrogate Vets Take On Yorkshire Wooden Spoon
Wooden Spoon Yorkshire Vets took on Harrogate Rugby Vets from the Graham Siswick era in support of Wooden Spoon, and to honour his memory as the Harrogate manager who organised the Wooden Spoon Partner Club affiliation. In almost perfect playing conditions Harrogate reminded us of their glory days with some well executed moves against the determined defence from a resilient Spoon Vets team.
Many of the Harrogate team could still manage a sprint, which some consider bad form in Vets rugby, and there was loose talk of the 1st team coach trying to lure a few out of retirement. The Wooden Spoon Yorkshire Vets on the other hand relied on dogged grit and determination, combined with the tactical savvy garnered from having played the game for many many more years than their opponents!
The final score is now lost in the mists of time, but all had a great time and a decent sum was raised for Wooden Spoon. Many thanks to Harrogate rugby for being such great hosts, and to the Spoon Vets for their support and hard work.
Lets do this again next year!
