Wooden Spoon Devon Celebrates 25 Years with Sportsman’s Lunch

Wooden Spoon Devon was delighted to host a special Sportsman’s Lunch on Friday 14th November 2025 at The Rougemont Hotel, Exeter, celebrating 25 years of Wooden Spoon in Devon. The event was a memorable afternoon of celebration, camaraderie, and fundraising, bringing together friends, colleagues, and supporters of the charity.

Guests enjoyed a welcome drink and a delicious three-course festive meal, accompanied by entertainment throughout the afternoon. A live auction and raffle with fantastic prizes added an exciting element to the day, generating valuable funds to support Wooden Spoon’s vital work with children and young people with disabilities or those facing disadvantage across Devon.

The event featured a special guest speech from Wayne Barnes, RFU referee, who shared insights from his rugby career and reflected on leadership, teamwork, and the values that the sport inspires. His contribution, along with the lively atmosphere, made the lunch a truly memorable occasion.

Wooden Spoon Devon would like to thank everyone who attended, supported the auction and raffle, and helped make the 25th anniversary Sportsman’s Lunch such a great success. The event highlighted the enduring impact of the charity over the past quarter-century and the continued generosity of its supporters.
