Cyclists Raise Over £4,500 for Wooden Spoon at Black Sheep Big Spoon Bike Ride

Another successful Black Sheep Bike Ride took place on Sunday 8th June, with over 100 riders taking part on one of three routes. We have the Serving Spoon at 87 miles which is a challenging route including the infamous Buttertubs pass, the Dessert Spoon at 55 miles and for those who are maybe new to sportive the teaspoon at 24mils.

The route rides through some spectacular scenery around Masham and the Yorkshire Dales, with feed stations at Redmire and Newton Le Willows, supported by local volunteers.

A big thank you to our main sponsor Black Sheep Brewery, Masham who support us with the venue and a complimentary hot meal and a pint of their award winning ale. Another sponsor Betty’s donated ‘Fat Rascals’ and tea/coffee.

Some of the comments from the day included:-

“The Wooden Spoon Yorkshire event is great, well organised, well fed and a great route deserves to be so much better supported! Four years on the bounce I’ve ridden it.”

“You couldn’t get a more friendly ride – all the volunteers were amazing and the Fat Rascals and Black Sheep Ale helped”

“The charity cycle ride that ALWAYS delivers – Love It!”

Tired legs, spirits high and with just over £4500 raised for Wooden Spoon Yorkshire – a wonderful day by all.
