Annual Christmas Lunch Raises £18,500

On Friday 13th December 2024, the Edinburgh Wooden Spoon Region hosted its much-anticipated annual Christmas lunch at the iconic Watsonians Rugby Club. Myreside, the spiritual home of Wooden Spoon Edinburgh, has been the setting for over 25 years of memorable events, and this year was no exception.

A Warm Welcome and a Worthy Cause

The clubhouse provided a cozy and festive atmosphere for over 100 guests, who came together to enjoy an afternoon filled with fundraising, fellowship, and fun. Through their generosity and support, an impressive £18,500 was raised to support children with disabilities and those facing disadvantage across Edinburgh, Fife, and the Lothians.

A Captivating Speaker

The afternoon’s proceedings were expertly guided by our charismatic MC, Andy Nicol, who set the tone for a fantastic day. Guests were then treated to a compelling and heartfelt speech by former England Captain Chris Robshaw, who shared an authentic and deeply personal account of the highs and lows of captaining his country. Chris’s humility and honesty left the audience captivated, making his insights a true highlight of the day.

Fundraising Success

The event concluded with a highly successful raffle and auction, both of which contributed significantly to the funds raised. The generosity of all attendees and donors will go a long way in supporting Wooden Spoon’s vital projects for children in the region.

Gratitude and Looking Ahead

Our heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who attended, donated, and supported this wonderful lunch. Your contributions are making a tangible difference in the lives of children in need.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Myreside for more events in the future as we continue our mission to transform young lives through rugby and community support.
