Northumberland Fundraising Lunch Raises Over £4,500
On Saturday 18th January 2025, Alnwick Rugby Club played host to the highly anticipated Northumberland Wooden Spoon Fundraising Lunch. The event, held before the Alnwick 1st XV’s home game against Sandal, gathered 110 enthusiastic guests for a fantastic afternoon of food, entertainment, and fundraising for children facing disadvantage across the region.
Special Guests & Entertainment
The sold-out event was expertly hosted by Tim Stimpson, former England and British & Irish Lions player. Tim captivated the audience with his inspiring stories from the world of rugby and led the auction with charisma and energy.
A Feast of Local Flavors
Guests enjoyed a delicious two-course meal provided by Alnwick Rugby Club in partnership with Turnbulls, a renowned local farm shop. The warm atmosphere in the clubhouse contrasted beautifully with the crisp, bright weather outside.
Fundraising Success
Thanks to the generosity of attendees and the support of local businesses, the event raised over £4,500 — double last year’s total! Fundraising activities included an engaging Heads & Tails competition, a raffle, and a lively auction featuring incredible prizes donated by Pattinson Estate Agents, Newcastle Falcons, Bamburgh Castle, Northumberland Arms Felton, Sportsworld North East, and Village Farm Health Club.
Standout prizes included a signed Johnny Wilkinson training top, a Tim Stimpson signed British & Irish Lions top, and tickets to Newcastle Falcons games.
A Day of Impact & Community Spirit
The success of the day was further amplified by the fantastic atmosphere and the addition of six new members who signed up to join Wooden Spoon Northumberland.
Gratitude & Future Support
Wooden Spoon Northumberland extends its heartfelt thanks to all attendees, Alnwick Rugby Club, sponsors PHS Group, and the generous prize donors for making this event such a success. The funds raised will directly support projects for local children facing disadvantage.
