Annual Wine Tasting Raises £6,000
On Thursday 5th December 2024, the Wooden Spoon Glasgow community came together for its highly anticipated Annual Wine Tasting event, hosted in the stunning library room of Livingston James Group’s Glasgow office, a listed building with a rich history. The event was a perfect way to kick off the festive season, blending fine wines, great company, and the spirit of giving.
Who Took Part?
The event welcomed a fantastic mix of attendees, including:
- Wooden Spoon regional members and the national team
- Representatives from Livingston James Group, HF Group, and Glasgow Warriors
- Livingston James clients such as Ryden, Curle Stewart, Johnston Carmichael, KPMG, Burness Paull, EY, Evelyn Partners, and Bellwether Green
- The Wooden Spoon Glasgow Committee
The Event
The wine tasting was designed and hosted by Inverarity Morton, who created an exciting rugby-themed competitive wine tasting experience. The wine was generously donated by Inverarity Morton, and the evening was sponsored by HF Group.
Guests were treated to locally sourced doughnuts from Glasgow’s popular Tantrum Doughnuts, along with a series of engaging fundraising activities, including a raffle, auction, and the playful Guess the Bear’s Birthday competition. AV support and lighting were provided by Night Flight, who transformed the space into a vibrant and welcoming setting.
The Venue
The library room at Livingston James Group’s Glasgow office was the perfect venue for the event. The historic space was beautifully lit and set up with poseur tables and flatscreen TVs to enhance the wine-tasting experience.
Highlights and Success
With 60-70 guests in attendance, the evening was a resounding success, raising £6,000 to support Wooden Spoon projects.
Auction prizes included:
- A 3-ball at Troon with Pro V1 golf balls and a voucher for lunch at the South Beach Hotel
- Two Lionel Richie tickets
- Two Glasgow Warriors Hospitality tickets
Raffle prizes included:
- A £50 Tailend voucher
- A free haircut at Tree Haus Barbers
- Two tickets to the Glee Club
- A £150 dinner voucher at Gaucho
- A £50 GolfClubs4Cash voucher
The winner of the Guess the Bear’s Birthday competition walked away with an incredible package, including the bear, a signed Glasgow Warriors jersey, and two standard tickets to a Glasgow Warriors game.
Making an Impact
The funds raised during this joyful evening will directly contribute to future Wooden Spoon projects aimed at transforming the lives of children and young people through rugby and community support.
