THE RECENT Partner Club dinner held by Fylde RFC was a great success and was sold out for the visit of Calcutta Cup legend, Craig Chalmers. Craig is a true rugby man and wisely predicted an upset at Murrayfield the following day!

One of Craig’s old team-mates, fellow Scottish international and Fylde member, Martin Scott, said a few words about club stalwart, another Scottish rugby legend, the late Hughie Thomas.

While comedian Pete Emmett had the room in the palm of his hand and is already being approached to come back to the Fylde Coast for further appearances.

A free pint at the start, bagpipes and a free pie at last orders, helped make this a memorable event which will have raised more than £4,000 for Wooden Spoon Lancashire once all monies are collected. This was another fine example of the Wooden Spoon Rugby Club Partnership working at its best.
