THE annual Southend RFC Wooden Spoon charity lunch was attended by approximately 60 guests at Southend RFC, prior to the league game against Towcestrians.

Guests were treated to a wonderful lunch supplied by Richard and his catering team. The auction and raffle held during the event raised around £1,600, which continues to show the great support the club gives to Eastern Counties region. Present at the event to represent the charity and the region was chairman, Séamus Farrelly.

Club President, Peter Thomas gave a fine speech after lunch before all the guests headed out to blue skies over Southend to cheer on The Saxons. It was a very exciting end-to-end encounter with the visitors winning narrowly by one point. Breathless stuff!

The region would like to thank the club for their usual hospitality and generosity and to Neil Harding in his efforts organising the event.
