TEENAGE DEN MADE POSSIBLE FOR CHILDREN’S HOSPICE
GlasgowCARING for a child with a life shortening condition can place unimaginable demands on families, both physically and emotionally. Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) is the sole provider of children’s hospice services in Scotland at two purpose built facilities for children of all ages, Rachel House in Kinross, and Robin House in Balloch by Loch Lomond.
Robin House provides a free service and home- from-home environment for up to eight families at any one time. There is round the clock support from professional staff, allowing families the chance to enjoy a rest from the challenges of their day to day lives.
Since the building opened ten years ago the care needs of the young people visiting have changed considerably. CHAS approached Wooden Spoon to help with a major refurbishment project designed to meet these needs.
Wooden Spoon Scotland’s contribution of £25,000 has helped to create a new Teenage Den, providing a further sense of peace, tranquillity and fun for young visitors. It is a small, but important part of a comprehensive project that will transform the lives of the families using the hospice for respite care, end of life care and bereavement support.
