Supporting Autism-Friendly Spaces in Ulster
UlsterSensory Aids Project: Supporting Autism-Friendly Spaces in Ulster
The Sensory Aids Project, a specialised support initiative in the field of autism and sensory engagement, has opened in Ulster with a funding boost of £15,600. This project, aimed at creating a safe and sensory-rich environment tailored to the needs of autistic individuals and their families, is set to have a significant impact on the local community.
The centre, the first of its kind in Northern Ireland, has been purpose-built to serve autistic individuals and their families. At its core, it provides day provision for autistic adults requiring high levels of support, serving communities across Northern Ireland.
This new sensory aids initiative, which launched in March 2024, provides a calming and out-of-this-world environment designed to help members of all ages connect, relax, and explore in a supportive space.
The project was generously funded by a Wooden Spoon Charity grant. Wooden Spoon supports the centre’s dedication to creating safe and inclusive spaces that foster wellbeing and growth for autistic individuals and their families.
