Sensory Teepee Opens in Overchurch Junior School
MerseysideSensory Teepee Opens in Merseyside with £3,000 Funding Boost
Sensory Teepee, a specialist wellbeing project in the field of sensory learning and development, has opened in Merseyside with a funding boost of £3,000 to supply outdoor wooden pods and seating area for their sensory garden. This project has the aim to create a calming, interactive space where children can explore, relax, and develop essential sensory skills.
A Safe and Supportive Space for Learning
This new sensory-focused initiative was opened at Overchurch Junior School on 11th February 2025 by Ken Andrews, Chair of Wooden Spoon Merseyside accompanied by Rob Briers, Immediate Past President of RFU. The school’s aim is to enhance the learning experience through sensory stimulation, therefore the area is designed to suit the sensory needs of the children especially those with SEND. This will help their well-being and foster social and emotional development. It will provide a safe and calming environment for children, allowing them to regulate their sensory input and reduce anxiety. This investment will have a long-lasting impact on the education of the students.
Funded by Wooden Spoon
This sensory project was generously funded by a Wooden Spoon Charity grant. Wooden Spoon supports the dedication to create inclusive spaces that nurture children’s development and well-being.
