Sensory Room at Northstead Community Primary School
YorkshireThe new sensory room at Northstead Community Primary School is a Sensory Space project in Yorkshire, and has been awarded a grant of £13,000 from Wooden Spoon Yorkshire. This project, designed to support children with additional needs by providing a calming, therapeutic environment, is set to make a meaningful impact on the local community.
This sensory room builds on Northstead Community Primary School’s proud history of serving generations of families in the area. The school is a fully inclusive, three-form entry primary school for children aged 4 to 11. With over 600 pupils, Northstead remains a close-knit community where every child is recognised as an individual.
This new Sensory Space, which opened on the 11th of July 2025, offers a carefully designed environment to support children who benefit from sensory input to help manage their emotions, reduce anxiety, and improve focus and wellbeing.
The project was generously funded by a grant from Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby. Wooden Spoon supports Northstead Community Primary School in its commitment to creating safe, supportive spaces that nurture wellbeing and development for all children.
