MerseysideTouch-Tag Rugby for the Visually Impaired: Promoting Inclusivity Through Sport in Merseyside
The Touch-Tag Rugby for the Visually Impaired initiative, a sports accessibility project in the field of inclusive education and physical activity, has opened in Merseyside with a funding boost of £10,000. This project, aimed at creating an inclusive and supportive environment where visually impaired children and young people can thrive through sport, is set to have a significant impact on the local community.
Their mission is to provide every child and young person with opportunities to thrive, achieve their full potential, and lead fulfilling, independent lives. Guided by the school motto—Love, Live, Learn, Grow—this project builds on a legacy of inclusion and empowerment.
This new touch-tag rugby program, which launched in November 2024, provides a calming and out-of-this-world environment designed to help participants connect, relax, and explore their abilities in a supportive space.
The initiative was generously funded by a Wooden Spoon Charity grant. Wooden Spoon supports the program’s dedication to creating safe and inclusive spaces that foster wellbeing, growth, and skill development through sport.
