Nurture Sensory Garden at The Nurture Project CIC

Northumberland

The Nurture Project CIC has partnered with Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby, to create a Nurture Sensory Garden in Haydon Bridge, Northumberland.

This garden aims to enhance the physical, mental, and social wellbeing of individuals through connection with nature. Funded by a grant of £29,985 from Wooden Spoon, via the Stay Strong Stu Foundation, a Rugby initiative in memory of a local rugby player Stuart Ridley.

Opened on Saturday 22 March 2025 by the RFU President, Rob Udwin, the Sensory Garden provides a tranquil, engaging, and therapeutic environment designed to help individuals of all ages experience the benefits of nature, develop their sensory awareness, and improve overall well being for children facing a disability or disadvantage.

The Nurture Project CIC is dedicated to improving the wellbeing of individuals, communities, and their environments by providing educational outdoor experiences that foster a connection with nature. Their mission is to support people in developing resilience, confidence, and a sense of belonging through hands-on activities in outdoor spaces.

This Sensory Garden was generously funded by a Wooden Spoon Charity grant. Wooden Spoon supports The Nurture Project CIC’s dedication to creating inclusive, calming spaces that promote emotional and physical wellbeing.
