GROVE COTTAGE DELIGHTED WITH NEW SENSORY ROOM

GROVE Cottage in Bishop’s Stortford would like to say a huge thank you for providing the children who attend the centre with a £6,000 grant to create a fantastic new Sensory Room. Although affiliated to The Royal Mencap Society, Grove Cottage receives no funding from them.
Attending on the day were Patrick Micallef, from Wooden Spoon Partner Club Old Grammarians, and Wooden Spoon Hertfordshire Chairman, John Batters. We were also delighted to welcome at the opening the Hertfordshire region Honorary President, Ben Ransom and also his teammate Senitiki Nayalo from London Irish RFC.

We are so thrilled with our brand new sensory room which was funded by Wooden Spoon Hertfordshire and really cannot thank them enough for their wonderful support. This new equipment will make a massive difference to the lives of children and adults living with a learning disability and can provide both sensory stimulation and a place for relaxation. Already the room is being used on a daily basis and our members are just enthralled with it.
Grove Cottage provides educational and social activities for people of all ages (44% are 25 years or under)with a learning disability, enabling them to fulfil their full potential and avoid social isolation by supporting lifelong friendships and providing respite to families.
They provide this through a range of clubs and services including their OFSTED regulated Special Needs Nursery, weekend and holiday clubs for children, various youth clubs and a speech and language programme.
