Yorkshire Lions

The Yorkshire Lions Wheelchair Rugby Club was set up in October 2013.

A small group of tetraplegic ex-patients from Pinderfields were brought together by Kevan Baker, who is the Lions Manager and Allan Smith who is the Lions Head Coach.

Initially the club was established as an initiative to help people get fit and to potentially play a little wheelchair rugby.

Since that time specialist wheelchairs have been purchased and the correct supporting equipment.

Allan Smith (an ex-Paralympian and past wheelchair rugby player) agreed to coach the squad and have grown from strength to strength with ten regular players and are about to join the National League.

Allan Smith, who was a GB player himself is bringing the team on well and are beginning to gel into a good outfit.

Allan has been a Wheelchair Player for many years. Although now retired, he has a wealth of knowledge about the game and is a great asset to the team.

The home of the Yorkshire Lions is Pinderfields but they often train at Featherstone Sports Club as a full sized basketball court is required.
