Wooden Spoon Merseyside Hosts Spectacular ‘World Cup Winners’ Sporting Lunch
Wooden Spoon Merseyside was delighted to host its ‘World Cup Winners’ Sporting Lunch on Friday 28th November 2025 at Liverpool Football Club, Anfield Road. The event brought together rugby fans, supporters, and friends of the charity for an unforgettable afternoon of sport, celebration, and fundraising.
Guests enjoyed a stylish lunch in the iconic surroundings of Anfield. The event offered a unique opportunity to hear from some of rugby’s finest, including World Cup winning captains Martin Johnson, Katy Daley-McLean and 2025 Women’s World Cup winner Holly Aitchison. Their insights, stories, and reflections on achieving the pinnacle of the sport captivated attendees and made for a truly memorable experience.
The lunch also provided a chance for supporters to connect, celebrate rugby, and support Wooden Spoon’s vital work with children and young people with disabilities or those facing disadvantage. Through their attendance and generosity, guests helped ensure that Wooden Spoon can continue funding life-changing projects across the region.
