Post Tour Roar: A Celebration of Rugby and Giving Back
Last Friday, The Brewery in London became the beating heart of rugby spirit as it welcomed supporters to the Post Tour Roar fundraising lunch – a truly memorable afternoon combining sporting insight, laughter, and generosity.
The event was expertly hosted by the ever-entertaining David ‘Flats’ Flatman, whose wit and passion set the tone for an afternoon that celebrated both the legacy of rugby and the power of community. Guests were treated to not one, but two fascinating Q&A sessions, bringing them closer than ever to some of the sport’s biggest names.
Taking to the stage were former British & Irish Lions legends Martin Johnson, Andy Powell, Tommy Bowe and Shane Williams, alongside current Lion Ben Earl, fresh from recent international successes. Adding to the line-up were two trailblazing figures in women’s rugby, Gill Burns and Tamara Taylor, both of whom captained England and continue to inspire the next generation of players. Their stories, humour, and candid reflections gave fans a unique perspective on what it means to represent your team and country at the highest level.
Beyond the rugby insights, the day was also about giving back. Guests eagerly took part in a raffle, silent auction, and live auction, with standout prizes that included exclusive memorabilia and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. One of the most coveted opportunities was the chance to capture a photo with the rugby stars alongside the iconic Lions Trophy, which sparked lively bidding and plenty of smiles.
The generosity of all in attendance ensured the event’s success, raising an incredible sum in support of two outstanding causes: Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby, and the Lions Trust, which continues to champion the game and its legacy.
From start to finish, the Post Tour Roar was more than just a lunch – it was a celebration of rugby values: camaraderie, passion, and making a difference.
A huge thank you goes to MBN for their superb organisation and to everyone who joined us in creating an afternoon to remember.
