A Night of Iconic Film Music and Incredible Fundraising
On Saturday 5th July, the echo of jet engines gave way to the soaring sounds of cinema classics as RAF Shawbury hosted the spectacular Proms 2025 – A Celebration of Film Music in the iconic Hangar 4. The evening combined musical mastery, dazzling visuals, and a powerful cause – raising an outstanding £18,000+.
Attendees were treated to an unforgettable night of entertainment as The Central Band of the Royal Air Force delivered stirring performances of beloved scores from Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, and many more. The music was brought vividly to life in a truly cinematic setting, complete with a Back to the Future DeLorean, Jurassic Park’s walking velociraptors, Ghostbusters’ Ecto-1, and dramatic lighting effects amid Red Arrow Hawks and helicopters.
Adding star quality to the lineup, Lucy Illingworth, winner of Channel 4’s The Piano, delivered a moving performance that captivated the audience. Guests were also enchanted by Italian tenor Yuri Sabatini, whose vocals added a powerful layer of emotion to the evening’s program.
The night wasn’t just about music – it was about making a difference. Wooden Spoon was honoured to be chosen as the charity partner for this extraordinary event. Attendees dug deep for the charity raffle and auction, bidding on an array of once-in-a-lifetime prizes including signed film memorabilia, dinners at The Ivy, a LEGO space station autographed by astronaut Tim Peake, luxury weekend getaways, a Red Arrow flight suit, helicopter flights, and premium whisky.
“We are honoured that Wooden Spoon was chosen as the charity partner for RAF Shawbury Proms 2025. Over £18,000 was raised – a truly magical, unique, entertaining, and memorable evening.”
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the RAF Shawbury team, the talented performers, and the tireless efforts of Wooden Spoon’s dedicated volunteer squad – affectionately nicknamed ‘Squadron Spoon’ – who made this incredible evening possible.
All funds raised will go towards supporting life-changing projects for children and young people across the UK and Ireland.
