Wooden Spoon joins forces with the Inter Service Championship to celebrate rugby and community impact
Wooden Spoon is proud to announce a new partnership with the Inter Service Championship ahead of the 2025 tournament — a collaboration that brings together two passionate forces in the world of rugby.
For over 40 years, Wooden Spoon has been transforming the lives of children and young people across the UK and Ireland through the power of rugby. In that same spirit, the Inter Service Championship has been uniting the UK’s Armed Forces and their families through sport since 1920. Now, we’re coming together to shine a light on the incredible sense of community, service, and youth development that rugby inspires.
As part of this exciting partnership, Wooden Spoon will be proudly present at all three championship venues – cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens, Kingsholm Stadium, and Allianz Stadium, Twickenham. We’ll be helping to create memorable matchday experiences for families and young fans alike:
- The Wooden Spoon Family Area will be featured at each venue, reflecting our commitment to young people and inclusive rugby experiences.
- Youth tournaments in Northampton and Twickenham will now be known as the Wooden Spoon Youth Tournament, showcasing our dedication to nurturing the next generation of players.
Beyond the pitch, we’ll be raising awareness of our mission and championing the values we share with the Armed Forces rugby community. We’re especially excited to spotlight the inspiring over-35s teams — the Royal Navy Mariners, Army Masters, and RAF Vultures — to our wider audience.
Looking ahead, this partnership also lays the groundwork for deeper collaboration between Wooden Spoon’s regional teams and the three Service Unions, working together to promote grassroots rugby and engage local communities.
“We are incredibly proud to be partnering with the Inter Service Championship,” said Sarah Webb, CEO of Wooden Spoon. “This collaboration allows us to amplify our mission of transforming the lives of children and young people through the power of rugby, while celebrating the spirit and dedication of the UK Armed Forces. We look forward to creating lasting impact both on and off the pitch.”
Together, we’re building a future where rugby can inspire, support, and connect generations — from military heroes to young dreamers.
