West Kents Annual Golf Challenge Raises Over £8,900

The West Kent Golf Challenge, now in its 15th year, delivered another exciting day of competition and camaraderie, all in support of the rugby community. This year saw 31 teams of four (“4balls”) tee’d off at 09:00 for the Shotgun start, with a Stableford competition format in place. The best two scores from each hole counted towards the overall team standings, keeping the day competitive and thrilling.

In a closely contested event, Lordswood RFC claimed the top spot with an impressive 95 points. Dartford Valley RFC followed closely in second place with 92 points, and Sittingbourne RUFC secured third place with 91 points. The competition remained fierce, with the fourth-place team scoring 88 points, fifth-place achieving 86 points, and five other teams just behind with 85 points each.

Following the action-packed morning, players and supporters gathered for lunch at the clubhouse, where the atmosphere was as vibrant as ever. The afternoon was led by the energetic and entertaining Adger Brown, who served as the Master of Ceremonies and Auctioneer. His lively approach ensured enthusiastic participation, making the auction one of the event’s highlights.

The day also featured a raffle and two on-course competitions, all contributing to the impressive fundraising total. Thanks to the generous support of participants and donors, the event raised just over £8,900—an outstanding achievement for the club and its charitable efforts.

Mark your calendars for next year’s event, which is already scheduled to take place on Friday, 22nd August 2025, at Redlibbets Golf Club. It promises to be another memorable day in the Kent Rugby Club calendar.
