Henkey to Run the New Forest Marathon after Long Covid Struggles

Charley Henkey is preparing to tackle the New Forest Marathon, a challenging multi-terrain course that offers one of the most scenic running experiences in the country. The marathon route weaves through a stunning mix of forest inclosures, old railway lines, open roads, and breathtaking views, and is renowned for its unique encounter with the famous New Forest Ponies.

For Henkey, this marathon represents more than just a race; it’s a personal triumph over adversity. “As many of you know, I was hit very hard by Long Covid three years ago,” Henkey explains. “My legs stopped functioning properly, and at my worst, I couldn’t get up or down stairs unaided. What better way to celebrate recovery than by attempting to complete a marathon?”

Henkey is not just running for personal achievement but also to raise funds for Wooden Spoon, with determination and a heartfelt cause, Henkey is set to take on the New Forest Marathon on Sunday 8 September 2024, proving that recovery and resilience can lead to incredible journeys — all while supporting a charity close to his heart.
