RideLondon cyclists triumph
AT THE end of July, 16 cyclists donned Wooden Spoon colours and undertook the challenging Prudential RideLondon Surrey 100 to raise funds for the children’s charity of rugby. Our thanks go to all those who took part and to their supporters who helped them along the way.
The event raised in excess of £5,500 for Wooden Spoon which will go a long way in helping us to continue achieving our mission to positively transform the lives of children and young people with a disability or facing disadvantage across the UK and Ireland.
The money raised by individuals such as these will enable us to continue to support projects around the UK & Ireland that help to transform the lives of children and young people. For example, it could be used to provide specially trained ponies for Riding for the Disabled that give fun, laughter and enjoyment to so many young people with sensory, physical and learning disabilities. Chiverton RDA was a recent recipient of two new ponies, funded through a donation from Wooden Spoon Cornwall. You can read more about how these ponies help build confidence, core strength and balance, and communication skills here.
Wooden Spoon could not continue this work without the generous support of people taking on challenges such as Prudential RideLondon. If you would like to find out more about taking on a challenge in support of Wooden Spoon please do contact us on charity@woodenspoon.org.uk
