Norwich Union RFC partnership begins with a bang

NORWICH Union RFC (NURFC) is proud to announce they have joined the Wooden Spoon Partnership Club Programme (#PCPfamily) a scheme that brings Rugby Clubs and the charity together to help raise funds both for Wooden Spoon and the club.

All the proceeds from NURFC fundraising for Wooden Spoon will be directed to the Eastern Counties region of the Charity and will be used to fund projects in the local area.

NURFC’s first efforts in fundraising was a sum of £529 generated from ticket sales at the club’s second annual Firework Display, which saw a sell-out crowd enjoy a fantastic display of fireworks provided by White Lightening Pyrotechnics as well as a number of activities and games and a selection of home-made food from the club’s volunteer catering team headed up by Fiona Blundell. In addition, Musks of Newmarket were on hand to provide jumbo sausages for those attending the display.

Event organiser Fern Blundell said she was extremely pleased with how the event went, especially as the goal of putting on a professionally organised display for the club’s local community at a reasonable price for families was achieved. She went on to thank all the many club volunteers who gave up their time to help organise and run the event.

NURFC are planning further activities as the season progresses where the club and Wooden Spoon will continue to work together.
