HRH The Countess of Wessex GCVO opens Wooden Spoon Surrey’s Dipping Pond at Wildlife Trust

THE 80-acre nature Surrey Wildlife Trust reserve at Nower Wood, Leatherhead has recently undertaken a £1million upgrade to its facilities. The centrepiece is a new Education Centre and activity area designed to enable children to enjoy the open air and get hands-on experience of various wildlife and nature projects, including a dipping pond.

The new scheme was specifically designed to incorporate features which allow access and usage by youngsters with physical and mental disabilities. Wooden Spoon Surrey amazingly raised £6300 for the creation and construction of a Dipping Pond which will, in particular, allow wheelchair-bound and other non-ambulant youngsters to enjoy and explore an underwater world within arm’s reach

The new facility was officially opened by HRH The Countess of Wessex GCVO who toured the site and participated in various activities with the children.
