Rugby fans raise £875 for Wooden Spoon Gloucestershire
The rugby family pulled together to raise a great amount of money for us recently. Over 60 rugby fans took to the waterways to enjoy the beautiful Gloucestershire scenery for a lunchtime cruise including entertainment from a three piece band, all while raising money for local disabled and disadvantaged children.
The idea for this unique fundraiser came from Wooden Spoon supporter Martin Filbey. Martin had organised a reunion with his ex-team mates from Bahrain RFC and decided to take them on a canal cruise with a difference! The group hired The King Arthur for a lunchtime cruise and thought it would be great way to include raising vital funds for Wooden Spoon on the day.
Thank you to Martin for staging the fundraiser and to Sarah Powell from the Gloucestershire committee who helped put the event together. The cruise raised £875 which will be put towards projects across Gloucestershire.
