Wooden Spoon Yorkshire Celebrate the Opening of the New Sensory Garden at Rosebank Primary School, Leeds

Yorkshire

Wooden Spoon Yorkshire proudly celebrated the opening of the new Sensory Garden at Rosebank Primary School, Leeds, marked by a joint ribbon‑cutting ceremony with Jamie Jones‑Buchanan MBE, CEO of Leeds Rhinos, and the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Stephen Holroyd.

The Sensory Garden transforms a previously unused corner of this inner‑city school into a vibrant, inclusive space designed to support pupils’ well‑being, focus, communication, and emotional regulation. Under the leadership of Head Teacher Alice Smith, the school has created an accessible outdoor environment that enhances learning and promotes inclusion for children with SEND and those experiencing trauma or stress.

The garden blends mature trees with newly planted raised beds and features a series of musical instruments crafted by a local artist using recycled materials—elements that promise to inspire and delight pupils for many years to come.

Representatives from Wooden Spoon Yorkshire—Jas Deu, Stuart Watson, and Richard Tully—joined the celebration, alongside Jeremy Horsell of Centaurs, whose generous contribution played a significant role in bringing the project to life.
