Wooden Spoon Kent Provide £12,000 Grant for the Refurbishment of a Sensory Room

Kent (South East)

Sensory Room Refurbishment at Roseacre Junior School, a Sensory Space project involving the refurbishment of a dedicated sensory room, in Kent, has been awarded a grant of £12,000. This project, aimed at supporting pupils with additional needs through a calming and stimulating environment, is set to have a significant impact on the local community.

Sensory Room Refurbishment builds on the inclusive ethos of Roseacre Junior School, where high expectations are set for all pupils. The school provides a broad and balanced curriculum alongside a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities. Through its ROSEACRE values — Respect, Open-mindedness, Safety, Empathy, Achievement, Collaboration, Resilience and Enjoyment — the school helps children become independent, responsible learners, ready for the next stage of their education.

This newly refurbished Sensory Space, which opened on 1st July 2025, offers a safe and supportive environment designed to help children regulate their emotions, manage sensory overload, and access learning more effectively.

The project was generously funded by a grant from Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby. Wooden Spoon supports Roseacre Junior School’s dedication to creating nurturing spaces that foster wellbeing, inclusion, and personal growth.
