Transforming Lives Through Technology at LauraLynn
IrelandWooden Spoon has partnered with LauraLynn and Lifelites to deliver advanced technologies that support children with life-limiting conditions and palliative care needs at LauraLynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice.
Whilst at Wooden Spoon’s record breaking attempt of the worlds longest game of rugby, we were able to speak to Kerry McLavertey CEO of LauraLynn, Ireland’s CHildren’s Hospice:
The funds allow us to purchase innovative technologies that directly support children with life-limiting conditions and palliative care needs at our hospice in Dublin. The children and families we support face a wide range of complex and challenging conditions, and for many, communication can be one of the greatest hurdles.
Many of the children in our care experience profound physical and intellectual disabilities, as well as significant challenges around communication. Through this incredible fundraising effort, we’re now able to provide high-tech equipment designed to empower them — giving them new ways to connect, express themselves, and engage with the world around them.
One remarkable example is eye gaze technology, which enables children who cannot communicate verbally to make choices and express their thoughts simply by using their eyes. With this technology, they can answer questions, make decisions, and interact in ways that were once impossible — offering them a powerful sense of independence and inclusion.
For many families, access to such advanced technology isn’t always possible at home or in schools. But when children come to LauraLynn, they have the opportunity to experience this transformative technology firsthand — and to see just how much it can enhance their quality of life.
This is the real impact of your support: opening new doors, creating new possibilities, and transforming lives through the power of technology.
