Sports Pitch Renovation at The Yard Adventure Centre

Edinburgh

Wooden Spoon Edinburgh is proud to announce a grant of £15,295 to support the renovation of the sports pitch at The Yard Adventure Centre. This funding will help create an improved, accessible space where disabled children and young people can experience the joy of sports, physical activity, and inclusive play.

Since its founding in 1986, The Yard has been a vital resource for over 2,600 disabled children and young people, along with their families, each year. The charity offers a unique, open-door approach, welcoming children from birth to age 25 with any disability or those in the process of diagnosis. This inclusive ethos ensures that The Yard remains a safe, supportive haven through life’s transitions, providing opportunities for fun, adventure, and community connection.

The sports pitch renovation will transform the existing space into a state-of-the-art facility designed to cater to the diverse needs of The Yard’s community. The revamped pitch will foster physical activity and teamwork, promoting the physical and emotional well-being of all who use it.

A spokesperson for Wooden Spoon Edinburgh shared:
“At Wooden Spoon, we believe every child deserves the chance to play, grow, and thrive through sport and activity. By supporting this renovation, we’re proud to help The Yard continue its incredible work in creating a space where disabled children and young people can feel included and empowered.”

This grant reflects Wooden Spoon’s ongoing mission to transform the lives of disadvantaged and disabled children through rugby and other community-driven initiatives. It also underscores the vital role that partnerships with organisations like The Yard play in creating lasting, positive impacts.
