Richmond Hill Academy Sensory Room
YorkshireRichmond Hill Academy Sensory Room, a pioneering initiative in the field of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) support, has opened in Leeds with £16,000 funding from Wooden Spoon Charity. This project, aimed at creating a calming environment to support students with autism and complex communication needs, is set to have a significant impact on the local community.
The bespoke sensory room at Richmond Hill Academy, part of the Gorse Academies Trust, will provide a space designed to aid in students’ self-regulation, focus, and social skill development. As part of the school’s commitment to supporting mental health and social engagement, the room offers sensory stimulation to foster emotional wellbeing and academic growth.
The Specialist Resource Provision at Richmond Hill serves students with autism and complex communication needs, and this new addition is expected to enhance students’ learning experiences significantly.
