Providing Calm to the Pack at Creech St Michael Primary School

Bristol & Bath
Somerset

Red Roses and Bristol Bears prop Sarah Bern officially opened a brand new sensory room at Creech St Michael Primary School in Taunton. The sensory room was created from an existing playroom, with the support of a grant from Wooden Spoon Bristol, Bath & Somerset.

Although Creech St Michael is a mainstream school, it has seen an increasing number of pupils with special educational needs (SEN) and those on the pathway for autism diagnosis. Currently, 20% of the pupils at the school have special educational needs and will greatly benefit from the new sensory room, which is equipped with 33 new pieces of equipment.

During the opening event, Sarah Bern watched the children playing tag rugby and even provided some game tips, much to the delight of the students. Wooden Spoon Bristol, Bath & Somerset generously granted £6,812 for the sensory room, which will provide a much-needed resource for the school’s SEN pupils.
