New Sailing Equipment Boosts Inclusion at Guernsey Sailing Trust

Guernsey

Wooden Spoon Guernsey fund the purchase of buoyancy aids and a sail at Guernsey Sailing Trust, a Specialist Equipment & Facilities project, from a grant of £2,560. This project, aimed at enhancing access to sailing for children and young people, particularly those with additional needs, is set to have a significant impact on the local community.

This project builds on the long-standing mission of the Guernsey Sailing Trust, a local charity established in 1988 to make sailing accessible for all local children. The Trust has since expanded to offer both sailing and powerboating tuition to all age groups. Its Sailability programme ensures that those with additional needs can enjoy the benefits of being out on the water. The Trust believes that learning to sail and powerboat should be open to everyone in the Bailiwick.

This new Specialist Equipment & Facilities project, opening soon, provides a safer and more inclusive environment designed to help young people build confidence, learn new skills, and enjoy the physical and emotional benefits of water-based activity.

This Specialist Equipment & Facilities project was generously funded by a grant from Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby. Wooden Spoon supports Guernsey Sailing Trust’s dedication to creating inclusive and engaging environments that foster wellbeing, personal development, and growth.
