Guernsey Sailing Trust Purchase a New Sailing Dingy from a £13,500 Grant
GuernseyA grant of £13,500 has been awarded to The Guernsey Sailing Trust. The funding will go towards the purchase of a specially equipped dinghy to improve access to sailing for children and young people with additional needs. The project is expected to make a meaningful difference in the local community.
The new dinghy will support the work of the Guernsey Sailing Trust, a local charity founded in 1988 with a mission to make sailing accessible to all children. Over the years, the Trust has grown to offer both sailing and powerboating tuition to people of all ages. Its Sailability programme provides inclusive opportunities for individuals with additional needs, ensuring that everyone has the chance to experience the joy and confidence that comes with learning to sail.
This new Specialist Equipment & Facilities project, set to open soon, provides a safe and inclusive environment designed to help young people build confidence, develop new skills, and enjoy the physical and mental benefits of being out on the water.
The project was generously funded by a grant from Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby. Wooden Spoon supports the Guernsey Sailing Trust’s dedication to creating inclusive, enriching environments that foster wellbeing, independence, and growth.
