Evergreen Woodland Library gives children a chance to learn through exploration

Warwickshire

In memory of former Wooden Spoon Warwickshire President, Ian Holroyd, the Wooden Spoon Evergreen Woodland Library at Evergreen School has been awarded a £13,500 grant from Wooden Spoon. This initiative, aimed at redesigning the schools library and creating a welcoming and purpose-designed environment for primary school-aged children with complex special needs, is set to make a meaningful impact by giving children a chance to learn.

Evergreen School serves children and young people across Central Warwickshire, including Warwick, Leamington Spa, Kenilworth and the surrounding areas. The school places children, young people and their families at the heart of everything it does, recognising that pupils learn and progress at their own pace and need to feel happy and safe in order to thrive.

Opened on 19 August 2026, the newly redesigned Woodland Library has transformed the school’s tired and unsuitable library space into a welcoming, imaginative learning environment. Designed specifically around the needs of the children at Evergreen School, the new space features a learning tree and specially designed murals, creating an engaging setting where pupils can explore books, develop their skills and enjoy learning.

Funded by a generous £13,500 Wooden Spoon grant, the project provides a purpose-designed facility that supports children with complex special educational needs and creates an environment where they can feel comfortable, engaged and encouraged to learn. The Woodland Library reflects Wooden Spoon’s commitment to creating spaces that give children the opportunity to develop, discover new interests and reach their potential.
