Enhancing Accessibility and Connection in Merseyside
MerseysideSensory Together: Enhancing Accessibility and Connection in Merseyside
The Sensory Together project, a sensory integration initiative in the field of inclusive outdoor education, has opened in Merseyside with a funding boost of £3,400. This project, aimed at creating an inclusive environment where individuals can connect with their surroundings through sensory experiences, is set to have a significant impact on the local community.
Barnstondale, an inclusive outdoor education and activity centre, is dedicated to providing physical and environmental education through skills-focused learning, problem-solving, team-building, and self-reliant activities. With residential experiences as a cornerstone of its approach, Barnstondale continues to foster personal growth and inclusion.
This new sensory initiative, which opened in August 2024, provides a calming and out-of-this-world environment designed to help individuals of all ages connect, relax, and explore in a supportive space.
The project was generously funded by a Wooden Spoon Charity grant. Wooden Spoon supports Barnstondale’s dedication to creating safe and inclusive spaces that foster wellbeing and growth.
