Craigtoun Country Park Wheelchair Swingset Opens near St Andrews, Edinburgh

The Craigtoun Country Park Wheelchair Swingset, a Specialist Equipment & Facilities project featuring a wheelchair-accessible swingset, has officially opened in Edinburgh with a generous grant of £14,225 from Wooden Spoon Edinburgh. This project, designed to provide inclusive play opportunities for children and young people with disabilities, is set to have a significant impact on the local community.

Craigtoun Country Park

Craigtoun is a 47-acre country park, located just two miles from the historic town of St Andrews. Open 24/7, it offers a fantastic day out for families, with a range of activities and beautiful green spaces for visitors to enjoy.

A New Wheelchair Swingset for Craigtoun Country Park

This new wheelchair swingset, which opened on 26th March 2025, provides a fully accessible play experience designed to help children and young people with disabilities enjoy outdoor play in a safe and inclusive environment. The addition of this equipment ensures that all children can experience the joy of swinging, regardless of their mobility needs.

The wheelchair swingset was generously funded by a Wooden Spoon Charity grant. Wooden Spoon supports Craigtoun Country Park’s dedication to creating inclusive and engaging spaces that foster wellbeing and growth.
