There are lots of ways you can get involved with the UK’s leading rugby charity. Your club could fundraise for us, get your members to sign up for a Wooden Spoon membership or even become a PCP club.
Fundraise for us
Malton & Norton RUFC‘s women’s squad showed a willingness to get their hands dirty in the name of Wooden Spoon. Members of the team tackled a Tough Mudder course and raised over £1,200, enduring trench crawls, cargo nets and electric shocks.
You can follow in their footsteps and take part in an event for us, or hold your own. If you would like more information on fundraising for us please email charity@woodenspoon.org.uk.
Become a PCP Club
We want to invite you to bolster our squad, and benefit yours, by joining the Wooden Spoon Partner Club Programme, supported by Irwin Mitchell.
By teaming up, we can raise funds to support both your rugby club and projects for children with disabilities or facing disadvantage in your area.
What is the Partner Club Programme?
Open to all rugby clubs in the UK and Ireland, the programme provides an opportunity to work with us to change children’s lives and secure mutual long-term gains through joint fundraising initiatives.
Partner clubs will benefit from our promotional prowess, merchandise, cost-saving savvy, celebrity contacts and strong links with the rugby community.
Watch our short video to find out more about how you can join in and help:
Irwin Mitchell, are sponsoring the inaugural Irwin Mitchell PCP Cup which will be awarded to a partner club at the end of this season along with a cheque for £750!
To be in with a chance of winning this prize all your PCP club needs to do is send us details of an event they have held this year to fundraise for Wooden Spoon. Irwin Mitchell will then pick a winner in April.
Please send your application by way of a paragraph about their event to rugby@woodenspoon.org.uk
Prosperous partnership
Among the rugby clubs already reaping the rewards of Partner Club status is Ripon RUFC. Andy Proud, the club’s Immediate Past President, said: “Our aim at Ripon RUFC is to be a community rugby club. A great way to demonstrate this is to adopt a charity that is making a difference in our local community.
“It is early days but the partnership is starting to work. Being in partnership with a well-known charity enables us to talk to people who might not have wanted to get involved before. The affiliation with Wooden Spoon is certainly opening new doors and attracting funds to us. People want to see that they are making a difference locally.
“If every rugby club across the country did just a few things like us and donated to Wooden Spoon collectively, then it would make a great difference to disadvantaged and disabled children across the UK and Ireland.”
Rugby clubs are joining in the socks campaign!
Our Socks campaign is an exciting initiative where players can wear Wooden Spoon O’Neills rugby socks for a match or home block fixture and help to raise vital funds for local children!
