Wooden Spoon Chilterns Sports Lunch Raises £15,000 for Local Children and Young People
Wooden Spoon Chilterns is delighted to announce that its recent Sports Lunch at the magnificent Bisham Abbey raised an outstanding £15,000 to support children and young people across the region.
The sell-out event welcomed 110 guests and delivered a significant increase on last year’s fundraising total of £11,500. Funds raised will be used locally to support projects that give children and young people who are disabled or facing disadvantage a chance to play, a chance to learn, a chance to thrive and a chance to be safe.
Guests enjoyed an excellent afternoon of rugby stories, insight and fundraising, with guest speakers Jonathan “Foxy” Davies and Catherine Spencer, alongside Stephen Jones and Adger Brown, who kept the room brilliantly entertained.
Wooden Spoon Chilterns would like to thank everyone who attended and supported the day, with particular thanks to Francis Construction for their generous sponsorship and continued support, and to all those who donated auction prizes or contributed to the fundraising.
Martin Sanders, Chair of Wooden Spoon Chilterns, said:
“Raising £15,000 for children and young people in our region is a fantastic achievement. We are hugely grateful to our members, guests, sponsors and volunteers for making the day such a success.”
Wooden Spoon Chilterns is now looking ahead to its next events, including the Go Karting Event at Absolute Karting, Maidenhead, on 15 September 2026; the Golf Challenge at Hennerton Golf Club, Wargrave, on 2 October 2026; and the Sports Lunch at The Barn, Binfield Heath, on 16 October 2026.
