Securitas helps little Explorers

Taking part in a community build delivers so much more than the project itself. It builds community, pride, belonging and connection.

As part of their Partnering for a Better Future social value programme, Securitas gathered volunteers, tools and timber to build a playground for Growing Places, in Portsmouth.

Growing Places is an early years setting offering a nurturing and inclusive environment where children learn through play, exploration and communication. Many children face challenges such as communication delays, social and emotional difficulties, neurodiversity and low confidence.

By supporting each child through a child-centred approach, Growing Places builds confidence, independence, and positive relationships, helping them to thrive at their own pace.

Employee Relationship Manager at Securitas, Claire Cleary, was so inspired by the project:

“Everyone got stuck in and supported one another.

“As the playground began to take shape, so did something else. People shared their knowledge, supported one another and built new connections throughout the two days. There was a genuine sense of community from start to finish. It was a reminder of what can happen when organisations come together with a shared purpose.”

The Little Explorers Playground will continue to have an impact among the children and families long after the volunteers have left the site.
