Community Rallies for Charity at Wooden Spoon Durham Golf Day 2024
Dinsdale Golf Club, Darlington – 24th May 2024
The picturesque Dinsdale Golf Club, located just outside Darlington, was the setting for this year’s highly anticipated Wooden Spoon Durham Charity Golf Day. This annual event, jointly supported by Wooden Spoon Durham and Wooden Spoon Northumberland, brought together nearly 80 enthusiastic participants for a day filled with competitive golf, camaraderie, and charitable giving.
The event kicked off with a shotgun start, featuring 19 teams who competed across the course. Among the distinguished attendees were Falcons players Ollie Fletcher and Freddie Lockwood, alongside ex-Falcons player and Wooden Spoon Durham committee member Ally Hogg, who also had the honour of presenting the prizes.
The golf day included a two-course lunch, providing participants with locally sourced culinary delights. The competition was fierce yet friendly, with various challenges such as the longest drive, beat the pro, nearest the pin, and the overall winning team competition adding an extra layer of excitement.
The sunny weather and excellent course conditions contributed to the overall success of the event. Guests enjoyed the thrill of the game and the opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause. The combination of ticket sales, a heads and tails raffle, and spirited participation ensured that the event was both enjoyable and fruitful.
Thanks to the generous support and participation, approximately £3,500 was raised. These funds will support children and young people with disabilities and those facing disadvantage, aligning with Wooden Spoon’s mission to positively impact young lives.
Wooden Spoon Durham Charity Golf Day 2024 proved to be a record-breaking event, showcasing the community’s dedication to helping children in need. A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who participated, supported, and contributed to making this day truly special.
