FEEDING SOUTHAMPTON: THE RUGBY FAMILY SUPPORTS LOCAL FOOD BANK

The UK is in the midst of a cost-of-living crisis, but that hasn’t stopped local business SubSea Craft from donating £4,000 to Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby, to ensure Hampshire-based food banks can continue to support children and their families.

SubSea Craft, a UK-based technology SME with a mission to deliver the competitive edge in maritime technology, is committed to supporting and engaging with the local community and understands the importance of transforming the lives of vulnerable children – something that echoes Wooden Spoon’s core values.

For the last 40 years, Wooden Spoon has established itself as a leading voice within the rugby community by working with a nationwide team of passionate individuals and ambassadors to raise vital financial resources to support life-changing projects and initiatives across the UK & Ireland.

The funds donated by SubSea Craft will be given to local food banks to help provide food for those struggling to feed their families in and around Portsmouth and Southampton.

Scott Verney, CEO at SubSea Craft, said: “It’s clear the continuing rising cost of living is putting extreme pressure on vulnerable and disadvantaged families and individuals across the country – with increased numbers of people turning to their local food banks and other initiatives to keep their loved ones fed and warm.

“We are honoured to be able to have been able to donate this sum of money to Wooden Spoon which is supporting food banks across the country, to help ease the pressure they will be feeling..

“Through the donation, we’re hoping to support local children and offer resources that they otherwise would not have access to.”

Sarah Webb, CEO at Wooden Spoon, said: “We are delighted to be in the position to provide much-needed support to Hampshire-based food banks that do such tremendous work for children and their families who really need support, especially during a time that has brought its own extra complications and challenges.

“We wouldn’t be able to achieve so much without the generous support from our outstanding Wooden Spoon sponsors and supporters such as SubSea Craft.”
