Rugby and cricket combine for charity bash
TWO sports, four star names and more than 200 generous guests helped raise in excess of £5,000 for the children’s charity of rugby at Wooden Spoon Sussex’s annual “Cricket meets Spoon” lunch at Hove’s County Ground.
Former Bath, England and Lions prop Gareth Chilcott stepped up to the crease to entertain supporters at the sell-out event, which was also attended by England-great-turned-Sussex County Cricket Club chief executive Rob Andrew, four-time world champion swimmer Karen Pickering and ex-England fast bowler John Snow.
Held on the third day of the County Championship showdown between Sussex and Derbyshire, the sporting mash up included a three-course lunch and charity auction.
The money raised will be used to fund life-changing projects within Sussex and Wooden Spoon is grateful to all those who attended and contributed to the success of the ever-popular event.
